Turn Any URL Into a Print-Ready QR Code
Type or paste a link and the QR code updates as you go. Every URL is validated first: unsafe schemes, hidden characters and phishing-style credentials are blocked, and risky links are flagged before you print.

Frequently Asked Questions: Printing QR Codes on Physical Paper
Understanding the technical differences between digital display QR codes and physical print QR codes helps you avoid costly re-prints and unreadable newspaper ads.
Why do ordinary QR codes fail when printed in newspapers?
Newspaper printing presses use porous, uncoated newsprint paper and liquid web inks. This causes a phenomenon known as "dot gain" — ink bleeds into neighboring paper fibers, expanding the dark modules into the white spaces. Standard QR codes with Low (L) error correction become unreadable when ink bleeds. PaperLink defaults to Level H (30%) error correction, allowing smartphones to decode the URL even with substantial ink spread, tears, or creases.
What is the minimum recommended physical print size?
For newspapers, magazines, and flyers held at arm's length (30–45 cm), never print a QR code smaller than 20 mm × 20 mm (0.8 × 0.8 inches). For posters, conference banners, or outdoor signs, adhere to the 10:1 distance-to-size ratio: at a 2-meter scanning distance, the QR code should be at least 20 cm wide.
Why does URL length affect print scannability?
Every additional character in a URL increases the number of rows and columns (modules) inside the QR code matrix. A 150-character URL creates tiny, tightly packed dots that easily blur together on newsprint. Cleaning tracking parameters (like UTM tags) keeps the URL short, producing larger dots that smartphone cameras can read in dim light or from greater distances.
What is the "Quiet Zone" and why does it matter for print layout?
The quiet zone is the blank margin surrounding the exterior of the QR code. Camera scanner algorithms require this white margin (at least 4 modules wide) to detect where surrounding newspaper text, columns, or background photos stop and where the code begins. Without it, nearby text lines will prevent camera focus.
How do I import vector SVG into Adobe InDesign or Illustrator?
Click "Vector SVG" to download the `.svg` file. In InDesign, go to File > Place (Ctrl+D / Cmd+D) and select the SVG file. It will retain mathematical vector sharpness at 300, 600, or 1200 DPI on CTP (Computer to Plate) commercial printing systems without pixelation.
